3 Things I've Learned About Working From Home

There's a huge difference between working at home and being a work at home Mama. Anyone who's tried to hit a deadline while consoling a toddler can attest to that fact! Here are a few things I've learned since I left my cubicle:

It's Important to Remember Your Goal

Whenever I get overwhelmed, I always keep this thought in the back of my head, " I chose this life to stay home with my children." In the end, that's the sole purpose for doing what I do every day. It's why I put in more work than I would at a 9-5 job. Your reason might be different, but I'm sure yours is equally as important! It's easy for me to lose sight of my true goal, when I'm trying to build my business. Taking a step back to remember what your original goal was is what's going to keep you focused.

Balance Is Key

Working from home is a balancing act because unlike in the workforce, you literally combine your home life with your work life. It's important to keep these two things organized and balanced so one area doesn't outweigh the other. A good example of this would be an extremely messy house. If my house is messy, my mind is going to be on that instead of the work I need to get done. It's important to set boundaries in both areas so you don't get overwhelmed!

Breaks Are Essential

When you're juggling two roles so closely, burnout is bound to try to make an appearance. This is why it's essential to take a time-out. Whether it's a ten minute break or a long weekend, taking a break will actually increase your productivity and give you a fresh focus.

What are your favorite lessons you've learned?
